Our Cadet Program

The Roseland Volunteer Fire Department has a Cadet Program which is made for the members of Roseland who want to volunteer but are under the age of 18 and over the age of 15. What is the Cadet Program? The Cadet Program in Roseland is a program set in place where the youth can train, respond, and be a part of the family that we have in our department. The cadets can respond to several different calls on the apparatus like any other member, but cadets are not allowed to go on to I-280 or work on a structure fire. Although this seems like a lot, cadets are still able to respond to fire alarms, gas leaks, in-town car accidents, in-town car fires, etc. On the first and fourth Tuesday of every month there's a drill and every Thursday there is house night which is a night to check all the equipment on the apparatus and maintain the fire house. Cadets are allowed and contribute a role in those nights. All cadets receive volunteer hours based on their attendance at the firehouse, which can contribute to school, colleges, and other programs. Besides the Cadet Program being amazing for colleges and schools, it will build up a person to become a good and well-rounded human being. Being involved in your community from a young age is very important and the Cadet Program is a great way to give back to the community and join a family that you never knew you would have wanted to be in.
